Fluoroscopy – Digital X-ray Imaging

Fluoroscopy is a form of digital x-ray imaging uses a very small dose of ionizing radiation to produce movie-like image clips of the body’s internal structures. Most fluoroscopy exams use an iodine-based contrast material or barium to help improve visibility of anatomic structures.

Why Fluoroscopy?

Fluoroscopy is often used to help diagnose swallowing disorders, GI disorders such as hernias or gastric reflux, and respiratory sniff evaluations.

We also offer interventional procedures, such as pain injections and arthrography.

Luminos-Agile-Max-Fluoroscopy-MachineHow to Prepare for Your X-ray Procedure

Depending on the type of test, you may be asked to wear a gown or you may be able to wear your own clothing. All jewelry and other metallic items should be left at home or removed prior to the exam.

During Your Procedure

During your procedure, the technologist will position the anatomy of interest in various positions that allow different views of the area. You may be asked to hold your breath for brief periods of time.

The average amount of time for x-ray procedures are only a few minutes, depending on the number of views prescribed by the Radiologist.
